Charlottesville Makeup Artist LLC‘s Hair and Make-up team recently had the chance to meet Fiona for her Bridal Trial. Fiona is a Doctor over at the UVA Hospital and due to her super busy schedule was struggling to find the right Make-up Artist for her wedding day. Fiona came to us a bit stressed – this wasn’t her first rodeo. She had her make-up done professionally in the past and sadly, was not totally happy with the results. Her ”sub-par” experiences with Makeup Artists in the past, left her frustrated. She wanted a team who knew how to make her gorgeous Asian features POP! She was looking for a team of stylists that was comfortable and experienced in doing makeup on Asian women. Instead, she ended up feeling like most Make-up Artists in the area were used to doing a Caucasian eye and was frustrated with their ability to properly do “Asian Make-up, specifically, EYE make-up for the Asian bride. All she wanted was to find someone who could do makeup to “naturally accentuate” her delicate almost-shaped Asian eyes, rather than make her feel “strange-looking.” After her hair and make-up trial, Fiona was ecstatic.

Nicoletta Daskalakis is an International Makeup Arrtist and Hair Stylist based in Los Angeles and Orange County. She works primarily with Indian clients. Nicoletta understands the nuances that go into planning Indian Weddings and has extensive experience perfecting the bridal look. Nicoletta is also well versed in Southeast Asians traditions and customs. She lived a year in South East Asia and has all the appropriate training for various bridal needs including setting the dupatta, saree dressing and ornament placement. Nicoletta uses Giorgio Armani luminous airbrush makeup and offers eyelash inserts as part of her service. She prides herself in her ability to create flawless makeup for perfect skin both on and off camera. Nicoletta loves organic, soft and intricate updo’s and side sweeps that perfectly balance the bride’s overall look. Her red carpet experience has given her an edge above the rest and her goal is to devote her utmost attention, quality time and focus on her brides! Nicoletta and her team of ten artists and stylists can also cater to all bridal party needs. Nicoletta Daskalakis is a licensed cosmetologist specializing in bridal beauty.

Having worked closely with top designers, photographers and personalities, Ashifa’s in-demand skills have meant word of mouth success within the industry. As an independent make-up artist, Ashifa is free to use and advise on the best beauty brands available in a truly bespoke approach to her art. Whether achieving classic radiance for the bride to on-trend imagery for the catwalk, operating As an experienced make-up artist, she is accomplished in all aspects of bridal beauty to fashion and photographic make-up. Her trademark lies in her natural passion and commitment to bring out the natural beauty in all kinds of clients. Originally trained with the MAC brand in London, she specialises in customising her creativity to enhance any individual.

Ashifa’s dedicated approach to make-up as an art form stems from her own artistic background. An early assignment entailed an exhibition of her oil and water landscape paintings, at the University of East London. ‘It’s the technique, the textures and the end results that interest me,’ Ashifa says today, ‘and how you can manipulate colours from soft to sharp for wide-ranging effects.’

From colouring canvas to making up customers, her passion naturally led her into the colourful world of make-up.

‘I like to play with colour and take a bespoke approach. I wanted to be at the forefront, the cutting-edge of the industry, in order to find out the best-looking techniques to bring to my own clientele.’

In the course of her research, she discovered a process that can make a world of difference to anyone’s image: high definition make-up achieved by air-brushing, as used in Hollywood. (The finish is so flawless, photos don’t need to be air-brushed afterwards, therefore making it an ideal choice for bridal to fashion clients alike). Seen by many as the future of make-up application, Ashifa mastered this precise and perfect image-making process through intensive training with Joe Sugar, a former head make-up artist for the BBC, now a top air-brush artist for Hollywood company, Dinair. Ashifa is now one of the very few accredited Asian make-up artists trained in this highly specialised area.

Midlands based, but available across the UK as well as internationally, Ashifa’s mantra is: ‘Make-up is not just for cover – but to enhance what you already have.’

In this season besides strengthening our presence in Manchester we also expanded to Birmingham and today “Uzma’s” continues and strives to be the preferred choice of Asian Brides for all of their makeup needs – this includes Asian Bridal / Walima (Valima) / Party / and Mehndi Makeup. From our bases in Manchester and Birmingham, we cover all of the UK (incl. areas where we do not have our own offices yet). Our makeup services are centred around the client’s wishes – whether it is a “Soft” / “innocent” Asian Bridal Look or a more “Contemporary” and “Bold” look with Arabic Styling, we will ensure that you are happy with our services and our makeup. Our Bridal Hairstylists also are very capable and can either work off a magazine/picture that you like or can give their own touch to the look you as a client want to achieve.
